How to frame a chicken coop?

I need to build a new chicken coop for my mother. What we have in mind is something with an enclosed area on the north side but open to the south and the front part enclosed, but fenced in. I have a “friend” who knows all about construction and keeps saying that he will come help me do this, but hasn’t yet. I need to know how to frame in walls and put on a roof. Please keep in mind that I am a 5’4″ female. I have never built anything like this. We would like to do this as cheaply as possible. Any tips on how to frame walls and roof or where to find simple direction on Internet would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Here’s a thought, try looking up Washington Ornamental and Game Bird Breeders association. I believe they have a web site, just google it. But the breeders can help you with building your coop. I hope this will help you some. From what I remember about coops, all you need is the wood frame which you lay out after you know where to put the coop, then tack chicken wire on it, you can use a plywood roof, just make sure that the plywood is painted or at least water sealed, and tack it to the rest of the frame. Otherwise, if the Washington Ornamental and Game Bird Breeders doesn’t come up on your google search, google some other Bird organization, or even talk to your local feedstore, they may be able to help too. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! A CHICKEN COOP FOR YOUR MOTHER??….Comeon’ don’t you think she deserves a little more space than that. I mean if You’re 5’4″ I guess you mom is probably short too, but A CHICKEN COOP??….I built a cottage for MY mom, and she’s still not happy with it. Wants a whole house. Wait’ll I tell her about YOUR mom.
